Holzindustrie Schweighofer might start the construction of a wood processing plant in Grodno Oblast, Belarus, the administration of the Free Economic Zone Grodnoinvest (FEZ) reported.

The Free Economic Zone Grodnoinvest has recently signed a protocol of intent with Austria's SPB Industrieinvest GmbH which, according to the source, represents the interests of Holzindustrie Schweighofer.

“The company will consider the possibility of registering as a resident company of the FEZ Grodnoinvest in 2018 to set up a wood processing plant in Grodno Oblast,” the FEZ administration said.

The place of the construction was not indicated, however it seems that the plant will cover the full processing cycle, with the production meant mostly for export.

Holzindustrie Schweighofer operates six wood processing plants across Europe, with a total output of over 4 million cubic meters of processed wood per year.
